About the festival

 Saku Balloon Festival has become one of the largest Golden Week events in Saku. The second round of Hot Air Balloon Honda Grand Prix is held during the festival, where over 40 colorful hot air balloons float in the refreshing winds above Saku Highland with high probability of sunny weather.

 Many tourists visit the festival every year to enjoy mooring experiences and other fun events for both adults and children.

 In 2019, a new “North Star Balloon,” designed by Bronson, the author of manga Fist of the North Star, was presented to the public during the festival, and visitors got to experience its maiden flight.

 The photo was taken at the festival in 2015. The conrasts of the blue skies and colorful hot air balloons fascinate the audience.

A Gift for You, from Saku and Karuizawa

 Saku Regional Development Bureau created postcards for tourists in Karuizawa so that they will discover more about the Saku Region. There are 10 postcards, and they will be available free of charge at facilities in Karuizawa Town.
