Slipping on the Highway

1 Example

The speed limit is 50km/h, because of the snow. You, however are driving at 80km/h. You pass the car in front and as you are trying to return to the left side of the road you slip to the right and hit the central reservation barrier. Cars coming from behind hit your car and a multiple pile-up results. Your car had studless tires.)

  • You put too much confidence in the studless tires.

  • You steered as though driving on a normal road.

3 How to avoid accidents

  • Be careful driving on highways in winter since the weather is very changeable.
  • Be aware that the road will be frozen late night and early morning.
  • Be careful not to slip on "black ice".
  • Do not steer, brake, or accelerate rapidly.
  • Maintain a greater distance between you and the car in front, and obey the speed limit.

*Pay attention to the traffic information.
